If you're talking about smoking anything inside, then yeah, that's a jackass move. Not one that makes you any more dangerous as a bus driver than the tens of millions in Canada who drink, but a dick move nonetheless. If you're talking about kids getting contact highs from a guy smoking outside.... I'd still rather not have someone smoking anything around me inside or out, but we're getting a little hyperbolic if we're now claiming kids can get a contact high outside from someone smoking a joint, aren't we?
I strongly believe a joint is different than a stogie in size and amount of THC...a joint is smaller in both categories (size & THC).
I described the bus driver at the winter festival smoking a "stogie" with children nearby. It was the biggest stogie I have ever seen and the pot odor was the strongest I've seen in years. Yeah, I strongly agree that someone doing such around kids is a jackass move. Last time I've personally seen one that big was when I was younger...smoked by my brother and his friends.
Yet, now as an adult...I've friends that make the "restaurant" comparison...sitting next to someone smoking a stogie is much different than sitting next to someone drinking a glass of wine or having a glass of beer.
As stated earlier, I've gotten a small buzz while sitting next to friends getting high but I've never gotten any alcohol in my system while sitting next to someone having a glass of wine or can of beer.
Maybe its my upbringing via having smoking parents that never smoked in the house nor in a car nor with us kids sitting next to them...they were very concerned about the impact of second hand smoke to us kids.
Regardless, employers, events and others are setting down their own rules regardless to the fact that marijuana is now legal. Its a new law and they got to make a lot of adjustments to the law here in Canada.
Biggest adjustments will be the change in the age limit and valid testing equipment for police. I'm a fan for the 25 years age limit but only because there's extensive research that shows the mind is still developing until age 25 eventhough the age law is different for other issues.
Up here they prefer to use the word "cannabis".
