Dobbs: Keep religion out of politics

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

No one is forced to contribute. His congregation is well aware of his wealth and the uses he puts it to. If flashing a little bling helps him bring young brothers to the Lord, I don't have a problem with it.

Bishop Jakes is one of the most dynamic preachers I've ever seen. Why shouldn't he be compensated in accordance with his talent? Why should he have to fly commercial and waste his time standing in line? Why is he more deserving of scorn that say, the Pope, who has control over wealth that makes Bishop Jakes look like a street corner preacher?

I don't think God meant for his people to struggle in poverty. Didn't He prosper the Israelites greatly until their lack of obedience did them in?

AAA with all due respect for your opinion, I think it's despicable.
Yes, God will be the final judge (of his "talent").

Quote from ktmexc20:

I wonder how the guy could possibly sleep at night knowing that children are starving while he is benefiting (with great extravagance) off of "the Lord's work".

Makes me sick.

Suppose any babies were starving during solomon's time? Why don't you just admit that what really makes you sick is the bible itself?

Quote from vhehn:

...men like benny hinn do selling snake oil from believers...

I am very spiritual... yes I am. This guy is another one of the Evangelical clowns. Have you ever seen one of his "healing" symposiums. Filling stadiums full of lambs (sheep). What a joke... tapping a person on the forehead and the person (fakes) fainting. "It's a miracle, I'm healed"

I've frequently seen where these people that "faint", first look back to make sure there's someone there to catch them. I've seen pre-teens totally fumble with the performance. And please do not even attempt to label me as a non-believer in God.

It's not my intention to offend anyone that believes this stuff. I am merely expressing my opinion... As a Christian myself.

Please see above.

Quote from vhehn:

this is one of the things i find most disgusting about believers. they will shut their eyes to lies, fraud, and theft if its done in the name of god.
i see little condemnation of the horrible damage men like benny hinn do selling snake oil from believers. so often you hear them say"if he brings people to jesus i have no problem with how he does it". disgusting.

Perhaps the reason you see no condemnation is because what he does has biblical precedent. You don't believe the things that are in the bible, so why would anyone expect you to believe what a preacher does. You just heap scorn on anything and everything that has to do with the bible and God. If there is a definition for disgusting, that is it.

I have read above. And as I stated, it just shows that you don't believe the bible. Saying you are spiritual and a quarter might get you a cup of coffee.

To each their own.

you make my point. does it even matter to you that his healings have been followed up on and none were ever found to be legit?
when you defend lies and fraud as long as it is in the name of god you prove the skeptics right in that religion does not care about truth.

Spiritual means you believe in a book? How about not believing in any of those books but helping fellow humans when they need help? How about the first one to volunteer whenever a sacrifice is needed? That isn't being spiritual?

Benny Hinn disgusts me. As does Robert Tilton and most if not all of the name it and claim it (and donate it bunch).

And I seriously doubt what they preach is bible based.
