Once I very nearly came close to throwing out one of my monitors out a third story window onto a concrete sidewalk.

But they are expensive and I need them.

If you truly love trading, then you'll love your losses....or at least try to understand why you lost and improve for next time. And no, I dont scream and yell.

really. are you playing a game or running a professional business? imagine that you manage opm. imagine your largest client is sitting next to you. you make a bad trade and start screaming like a child and cursing at the computer. what do you think your client will think of you?

yeah I undetstand where you are coming from...

the worst situations I find myself in are when I'm I've got a bunch of pending orders (for far more size than I ever want to take on) and either the system totally crashes or the worse scenario is when we lose connectivity to a particular route and you can see your stuck order(s) get filled... I once bought 25000 BBY at the high of the day this way... (I lost all my profits for the day and ended up negative) as the stock tanked... the worst part about that particular scenario was that I knew I was filled but didn't actually have the shares on my computer to sell... (as you cannot short on downticks...)

that folks is frustration. I'm not excusing my childish behaviour but that's the type of situation I find myself in when I lose it...

happy trading....

mnx

I've heard of trading rooms where nobody yells and/or curses. I guess it's possible. Just haven't seen it.

would that have been a 17 or 19 lot short for three points?

I've heard stories of people throwing keyboards and stuff in real hedge funds. I'm sure those are high ranking traders to get away with it.

To each his own. I wonder if people like Soros used to throw their computers out their window.

Andy Krieger quit working for Soros because he'd come in screaming at him when he'd be in a large fx position.

The yelling and screaming are only detrimental (to your trading) if they prevent you from carrying out your plan. Some seem to be able to get mad and still do the right trade.
