Quote from golablue:

I think the first 30 minutes are the hardest time of the day to trade.

I have found that although I may miss out on the trade of the day by not entering within this period, the number of losses and whipsaws that I am able to avoid far outweighs the occasional big trade.
=============
Like the first 30 minutes more than last 30 minutes[reg hours];
but thats not saying much, because whipsaws are more likely in first 30 minutes.

Do trade first 30 minutes sometimes and dont have a rule against it;
whats going on last 20-5o days make a difference to me:cool:

Traded the open and I was done by 09:37 est for the ES and the EC. Opens give good price "reaction" points to bracket trade from and take advantage of the imbalances that can be magnified at the open.

IB is a Mickey mouse platform and if you are trading with that size it is a bad idea. IB's feed lags and the execution is terrible. You need a platform designed for futures only. i would reccomend TT or TransAct for day trading e-mini's. those are both fast platforms. There are some special deals with transact where you can get the platform for free.
