Do you tell people you're a trader?

Usually I don't tell unless in very closed circle. In most cases, after people know what I am doing, they ask me the opinion abount current market, I tell the truth which is "I don't know", but they don't believe, they think I hold something back.

Retired. You didn't make a bundle of that stock market bubble years ago? LOL! So whats it like working 9-5 in a meaningless job?
Excellent quote lol.

I left (=fired) my last job two years ago sued the suckers for big tom and actually won.
I worked as a quant/trader for a number of banks for about 8 years. Now I sit and trade from home. My ex-collegues say I have put out to pasture (But my ex-boss hates me). Some of my friends say I gamble.

What amazes me is when I was a "big time" quant/trader working for someone that was cool, now I trade my own money and I am unemployed/loser a gambler etc etc.

I even had a friend(still working at a bank) say to me "you're using your own money?"

Huh maybe he thinks I am a crap trader :D

This thread has bought tears to my eyes generally I tell people I run a hedge fund. Or that I am in property. They love that, until that bubble burst.

I tell them i hit techs in 97-00 made a fortune :D then shorted tech from 9/00 to about 10/02 :) after tech bubble i slammed some cash into gold, mortgage backed securitries, chinia plays and tankers. I tell them that i make millions just form the interest of the interest
i retired by 25.

NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT JKINGGGGGGGG

just joking.... But I am trying --cant wait for the next bubble... I got 50 years ahead i hope.

It's almost incredible how about 90% of posters in this old thread have totally disappeared since then. Now they must be saying : " I used to daytrade".

Again and again, we are back to this 90% failure rate....or they really got enough of ET and left...
