This is pure insanity, folks in power never had their maids explain to them that you can't buy true friends with money.

Rich parents outsourced child-rearing to maids and so the poor kids grew up into Washington Elite never learning simple life lessons.

Because we are fools? Think about who benefits from US aid. US defense contractors.

US always likes strongman dictators overseas. US is deathly afraid of democracy abroad. Democracies are messy, often run by people who are not westernized, who would not grant US military bases. Pakistan is but one in a long list of despicable regimes US has backed.

In spite of commercial ties to India, US insists on arming Pakistan. As a result India does not buy military hardware from the US. In a vicious cycle, US defense contractors favor Pakistan.
