Do you hate Nasdaq?

Quote from Error 404:

The truth of the matter is pre and after hours trades are all OTC. Whether Nasdaq or Listed.

true, what I meant was primarily trading NYSE during market hours and NAZ after....however whose kidding who
anyone who dosent have their hotkeys set for both at anytime

There is money to be made in BOTH markets.

People have their favorites, which is OK, but saying that "you can't make money" trading one or the other is a stupid thing to say.

Exactly - Where ever you go, there you are, pick something and trade it....lol.....personally I like to stick to just one or two vehicles and learn how they act.....become familiar to how it tends to trade at least. "Everybody to their own notion", said the old lady that kissed the cow. :D

I Agree with the last few posts. If you only stick with one exchange then I would love to play you for money in Tennis. Because you probably would never attempt to hit a backhand. Or how about a switch hitter in baseball. Does he have an edge over other batters by adapting to the pitcher's release?

Quote from OVERtheLINE:

trade nyse during the day and naz after hours/premarket:cool:

Huh ?

I thought the topic was geared towards daytrading.

You daytrade Nas premarket ???

Quote from Fast_Trader:

I've read several posts on here where people spoke negatively about trading Nasdaq and I'm a bit curious to learn exactly WHY everyone seems to hate Nasdaq. Spoke with a prop firm, and got the same message along the lines of "professional traders don't even trade Nasdaq any longer..."...WHY? I'm asking because I exclusively trade Nasdaq equities and don't touch NYSE stocks since I've found the NYSE system to be very slow, and I always get bad fills on NYSE. Please enlighten me on why Nasdaq is referred to as Nazcrap and NYSE is where the "pros" trade.

Thanks to all in advance.

Trade stocks in all three indexes, ,QQQ,SPY, DIA.
Generally, I mostly get better entry & exit on NYSE ,that can be real important on a daytrade.

Disagree with your theory that the ''pros'' only daytrade.Perhaps many ''pro s''[ in a narrow SEC sense only ]daytrade more than swing. Perhaps not if you count hedge funds.

Clearly there are better opportunities in NasdaQQQ stocks sometimes ,especially for swing, position trades.
Will admit NasdaQQQ stocks, even when you know them well, tend to be more sloppy; can be more risky on a daytrade especially a short sell.

nyse is untradeable. The NX system is TOO controlled by the specialist, and he can halt your so called electronic order if he wants to.
How can someone scalp when he needs to wait a literally UNKNOWN amount of time for execution?

Actually their execution sucks so bad that almost every week there is more and more talk and suggestions to make the nyse fully electronic or to at least add liquidity in its issues in other electronic markets.

You can take swings trades in the nyse but forget scalping.

And as to the question why do props work only with nyse, well there is a very good answer to that.
The usual prop strategy is "buy 10,000 stocks on the open, weed out the losers, maybe you'll make money and maybe you won't buy we'll make a hell lot of commissions".
That means they provide quite a lot of liquidity to the nyse, which in turn almost certainly pays them some sort of rebate.
