You can lose $100,000 running a company and so you not only lose $100,000. You also had to work the whole year just to lose the money. With stocks if lose the money all you had to do is press a button. I don't know about you, but if I was going to lose 100k over the year, I'd rather do it binge watching Netflix.

And visa versa for making 100k :)
