Do you gun law people also believe we should ban cars?

Quote from Tsing Tao:

I don't have a problem, as I said, with requiring people who sell guns to initiate a background check when they sell that gun. But you're still going to have hundreds of thousands of guns, if not more, out there not trackable. i've yet to hear a solution that will take care of that.

The left believes there is a solution for that (though it won't entirely work and would need a police state to enforce). They don't want us to believe that they are for that solution, though a few in politics have revealed their true long term intent.

I find it interesting how this whole gun debate has settled on background checks. It seems to me the bill was rather large, and Diane and Co. were seeking much, much more than background checks.

There isn't a solution that I know of, all we can do is the best we can.

Because nothing will work perfectly, there is nothing we can do.

I don't think anyone can argue with smart legislation. The problem is that smart legislation has long been absent from Congress, and emotion and lobbying are the only things that rule.

Quote from VVV1234:

It's an important reality to consider in the debate. There are probably close to .5-.7 guns per capita in the US. I have heard estimates of 200 million. However, just because there are so many guns out there should not de facto nullify efforts at reasonable gun control. If you tell me there are 15 million semi automatic assault rifles in private hands in the US (just a hypothetical) I can't accept that as a reason for not giving consideration to subjecting assault rifles to greater controls than they are at this time.

I am curious, do you carry in the regular course of the day, and if so why. Are you in a business commonly subjected to robbery?

Wow, I come Home from the people's republic of NY just in time. VV, define assault weapon. When I was a Marine Officer in Iraq, we used to assault locations where we knew we could find and kill the enemy. I carried an M-4 FULLY AUTOMATIC machine gun as did EVERY ONE of my guys, plus other ASSAULT "goodies." We carried TRUE assault rifles. They were capable of fully automatic (machine gun), fire which is why they're called an assault rifle. Duh! They're DESIGNED to lead an assault on the enemy with MACHINE GUN fire...

The guns the libnazis want to ban are SEMI automatic rifles. These rifles require squeezing the trigger for each round. FAR from a machine gun, and far from an assault rifle as our US Military wouldn't lead an assault without full auto ASSAULT weapons. These rifles under attack by the nazis on the left who demand to enslave, and control the sheep, are actually defensive rifles. They're not made to true Military standards (mil spec), for ASSAULTING locations/positions (i.e., FULL AUTO which ALL of our troops carry with an M-4.) They're for people who want to defend their Families, Home, and property in the MOST EFFECTIVE way possible from the evil trash that wants to take away from them, and harm their Families.

And try 400 Million guns in the US, not 200M...

Last, I carry a Glock 26 during the day + extra 17 round extended mags. yes, I travel through a very bad part of town, and refuse to be a news headline/victim. Hope you can understand this, but I'm not holding my breath. Our Founding Fathers and you wouldn't get along, yet you're in THEIR Country wanting to quash what they BLED and SUFFERED for so we can be free. Proof liberalsim is a mental illness you are...:(

Not to mention, again, that most guns used in crimes are stolen and were never and will never be subject to ANY kind of background check.
