Do you gun law people also believe we should ban cars?

According to FBI statistics, an average of 150 people are killed each year in mass shootings (4 or more people killed in a single incident) in the US.

According to the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) statistics, approximately 400 people are struck by lightning on average each year in the US.

You're 2.6 times more likely to be struck by lightning than you are to be killed by a mass murderer with a gun.

Mass shootings are tragic, but they're not an "epidemic," despite the hysterical reporting by the news media.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last year there were about 10,000 gun murders in the US. About 60% of those involved criminal-on-criminal death (i.e., were gang or drug related), or were police shootings. Of the remaining 4,000 non-suicide gun deaths, about half the victims were shot by strangers. That means that approximately 2,000 law-abiding people were shot and killed by strangers.

About 10,000 people are killed by drunk drivers each year.

In other words, if you're not involved in criminal activity and you don't belong to a gang, then you're 5 times as likely to be killed by a drunk driver as you are to be killed by a stranger with a gun.

Thank you for attempting to bring objectivity to this emotional discussion, with the use of facts, evidence. May we use this same method for our discussions of "high taxes", "out of control spending", "tyrannical government", "global warming hoax", "immigrants swarming over the border", "death panels", "47%", "austerity is expansionary", "inflation is coming", "we're all gonna die!!!1!", etc.?

Great points;
+ the short sellers were right, on GM[cars], also.Maybe we need to have Senator Finestein share her 6th grade knowledge on lightening rod control, also.LOL

Most states do have a background type check. If your license is suppended or revoked in one state then there is a good chance you can't get a license in another. Next.
Conceded, but a DL is a privilege NOT constitutionally guaranteed right.

And yes registration does eventually lead to confiscation.

So you've been saying stupid things for years. What a surprise. Yes it would be like trying to prevent repeated drunk drivers from killing people by revoking their licenses. Those drunk driving laws are destroying our liberties.
And you and your anti-gun pussy buddies are trying to destroy 2nd amendment rights.

Go fuck yourself.

Oh, and since when do you need a license to operate a vehicle? All mine requires is gas in the tank and the ignition key.

Of course you can Rectum. But for some reason you never do. What's up with that, dumb ass.

A background check doesn't violate the 2nd amendment.
That privilege talk is stupid talk. Freedom of movement to travel and work is more important than guns.

It's an infringement, precluded by the 2nd amendment but ignored by our leaders and the anti-gun pussies.
That privilege talk is stupid talk. Freedom of movement to travel and work is more important than guns.
Now you're demonstrating your ignorance.
Gun ownership is a guaranteed RIGHT. Driving a vehicle on public streets is a privilege. In fact the manual I studied before taking my driving test in TN specifically said that "driving is a privilege not a right". In any case the ability operate a vehicle is hardly more import than the right to self defense and the ability to challenge a tyrannical government. Both of which were necessary long before automobiles were even invented.

Once again, you are ill informed.

The SCOTUS struck down the background checks in the Brady Bill. It seems they want such checks to be primarily a states right and the feds shouldn't intervene. The constitutionality and limits are not settled.
