Do you feel obligated to sharing your proprietary research or advice with strangers? Free Advice?

Advice of the cuff is one thing Hey read this book it taught me bunches. Bringing them through school on your time is something different. Putting a spoon in someone mouth is another.
I will be honest i a noob and know nothing. I view this as a new hobby as i read and study various things. From physics, to chess. I have beat plenty of chess masters on a consistent basis though i am not one. So i am here to look around and learn, and there is plenty of banter that i love. But in no world (hobby) was a teacher free. Advice sure if its short and sweet. But a teacher come on.

The thing that make me wonder, and it really does make me wonder. If a guy is so good that he makes a profit at X. Why the hell would he bother teaching when he could be earning. Say $10k course with a guy that baby steps you the whole way. I assume this would be while the market is open and if not the guy is working 16 hour days. How is that money worth it to him unless he blew up his account. Just seems counter intuitive.

Just makes me think those who can do, those who can't teach.

Thank you, I use to be the most generous person until two of the traders I worked with tried to trap me in a Amex Penny Stock. I fried the hell out of them, I think I wrote how I smashed those assholes good!

I love Chess(I was a 1800 rated player who loved 1 d4 as my opening and responding to 1. d4 with the Benoni when given the right set up. Poker, mountain biking, most of my activities are basically single (tennis, pickle ball) ect.. My guess is the bulk of serious traders are solo people, we probably like chess and poker.

You would of gotten kinda of a benoni from me i play a line if you have c4 d4 nf3 i would have nf6 e6 c5 you push i play b5. Its called the bloomfield. I play it a bit wierd but suitable to my style. of take the center leave you pawn on b5 and toy with it but never really go after it.

Great set up. i hardly ever get it off the real trick is never to take the extra pawn decline it and bring out the bishop to g5.

But i regress. yeah i love some chess. Play at least one tournament a month normally 2.
 
I sure liked tennis before I blew out my knee. Lots of great strategy and skill to the game; as well as physical ability.

Someone asking how to trade is like someone asking how do you play tennis?

Um, practice a whole lot and develop your game?
 
Quick story about nothing. I asked a guy today if ever met anyone that read a book on stocks.
He said no. Then i asked him has he ever met anybody that bought stock he said yeah.

I asked if he thought that was weird or was i weird one.
 
You have to play chess by yourself to get good. Same as any other skill. Though the thing is its not a competitive game. Its discovery find out why you do the thing you do and why things don't work. Mostly with a computer chess engine. Really close to what you guys are doing. Like back testing strategies. I kinda of figured if i am going to waste a lot time on a hobby to keep my mind sharp i might as well make some coin in the process. There is no money in chess. Some glory but no money. A big prize is like $1500, and you have to fight 100 other players for it. Like i said no money.

I didn't mention playing chess by yourself. I mentioned playing chess with yourself. Big difference. No computer needed.

All you need is a chess board, the pieces, and you on white and you on black. So you are then playing with (against) yourself. It's rough.
