Speaking of Yachts-- saw this "most evil" one the other day-- the owner is definitely not a technical analyst unless the name is SATAN. LOL!

anything is possible but this brings up a good question. Why would someone prefer a high networth to a negative networth yet own and enjoy beautiful things like the boat?

Think about it. Is this positive networth idea really just a control mechanism that deludes the truth? Is trump positive or negative NW? Regardless, he enjoys life greatly. We all die and are equalized then.

Same reason why my junior drives a Porsche RS-something and I drive an old Honda Fit. Looking good and being rich are not always consistent (not that I am rich).

No question about it. But why be wealthy if you are afraid to spend it? My best friend made over $5 million in precious metal trading in less than a year. Not that $5 million is wealthy by any stretch.

He came from lower middle class family, and lives like a poor person despite having high income and the $5 million windfall safely invested. He is terrified to enjoy/spend the $$ at all. What good is having it, then?

How prevalent is narcissism in investment banking, and finance overall?

Can you see it in others, or is it 'just there'? In university, many of the students whose aim is to get into finance are rather high up on the narcissist supply.
 
5 million is wealthy. He must have been pretty senior already to get paid that much too.

spending is ok, but it's too frequent to spend beyond your means. A million dollar yacht is an OK toy for a billionaire. Same goes for a car - my Fit does everything that I need and I don't need a fancy car to get laid:)
