Instead of focusing on the fact that Krugman didn't actually say the comment first, you should be focusing on defending him from actually agreeing with it, which is what the OP is going after - the fact that the statement is a joke and testament to what Krugman has become. But the liberal tactic is, of course, to deflect and obfuscate.

Im still waiting for one of them to try to defend Krugman getting paid 225k TAX PAYER DOLLARS to give 1-2 seminars per year on income inequality. Its ludicrous. I wont hold my breath.

Can you imagine if you preached that to the average American family. "Hey, you're in trouble? No problem ... just spend MORE. Take out a home equity loan and spend that $$$. Go get a Pay Day loan (with 100% interest rate) and spend that! Take cash advances against credit cards to get even MORE $$$ to spend. Get a few more credit cards and max them out. Do all that and your problems will be solved".

I emailed him a few times ... challenging him on some of his asinine statements. Never got a reply.
