do i need a firewall with xpsp2

I run the free zone alarm and i am told it takes up alot of resource. I was told if you have xp with sp2 you dont need to run a firewall ? Is this so.

Also if i am only running esignal and cmc forex platform do i need a firewall or it only when using email and explorer?
 
Need? Hmmmm.... Microsoft says XP's firewall is adequate, critics claim not.

I've been using it all along without incident.
 
zone alarm caused me too many problems. what i did was use XP's firewall and I bot a router (which of course has a built-in firewall). these two combined i think do the trick.
