For me personally it's the best country on the planet; that belief tends to get strengthened when I travel. Certainly there are other countries with similar strengths but the US isn't one of them for me because of what I value in my life. But we all value what makes a country great differently. If someone wants to pursue riches above other factors the US has it's merits.
I greatly value the freedom to make my way around most of this city with negligible chances of being shot or robbed. I value the diversity here and that it was a great place to raise kids. I like the clean air, mostly reliable grid, open spaces, community values, and Canadian sports. The lack of risk taking in business and relatively close doors in many corps is a long term problem, as was high taxes until the late 1990s. Canada has improved in these areas but still plenty of room to grow. Many young people leave because of this. Some come back once they are established. Canadian corps need to adapt or lose in this global economy.
