"...a surprising proportion of people who you would think should know better by now."

TK9 thinks he knows better...

What was that thread about conceit?

LOL!

Quote from Thunderdog:

I think that man created God in the absence of science.

However, even though we now have a more advanced and evolving understanding of science, the notion of God as a deity persists, as it has been grandfathered through generations by a surprising proportion of people who you would think should know better by now.

You asked for an opinion. That is my opinion.

the thread is about what we make it to be...

Quote from jem:

no - but an agnostic could.

Not because of prejudice but because of an atheist would be shown to lack the thinking skills to be president. (tougher test on all politicians post gwb the idiot.

A believer by definition has faith. Something we know is beyond measurement.

An agnostic says I can't measure it so I doubt its existence.

An atheists has faith in his disbelief. yet pretends it is not faith.

Without testing without knowing what happened before the big bang - an atheist states God could not have caused the big bang.

That disconnect - that lack of rational thinking would cause the atheist to be unelectable.
Jem, I appreciate your response, but I think you posted it in the wrong thread:

Please post in that thread, and I will be pleased to respond.

Conceit? I have admitted to errors in judgment in past posts in various threads. Have you ever done so, despite the fact that you are by far the most prolific poster on ET?

Pot, meet kettle.

So you are admitting you are conceited?

LOL!

also, thanks for your answer but ¥ + 1 = ¥ therefore am not saying God is ¥, not even that God "is" for that matter, but if "It" were there would be no contradiction here... sorry for your imaginary friend Gilbert...

NB: ¥ = infinity (the mathematical symbol) for the purpose of the above... if s.o. knows how to write it within ET let me know... thks
I'd better be careful,, if you seem a little sensitive the way things are put....

I did not say infinity+1 2cents. I said God+1. That's the point. Whatever God is said to be. But if God is only infinity ,then perhaps you should be clear and call iinfinity by its name - infinity and describe what it is said to be I did not add +1 to infinity

.If you feel sorry for my invisible fiend then you will also feel sorry for God. for It or whatever you ascribe that concept with, is that... +1 which produces Gilbert .With the same level of rationality you presuppose God I presuppose Gilbert.

I am admitting that you are at least as conceited if not more so and should, therefore, be a bit more introspective before you cast stones at others on the subject matter. However, your level of conceit precludes introspection, and so we find ourselves at yet another impasse.
