The management of Dicks, a failing retailer of shoddy sports equipment, has gone full CNN, announcing in a fit of virtue signaling that it will no longer sell AR style rifles but also calling for the full anti-gun agenda to be enacted. They now demand that congress ban "assault weapons", which until today they sold, hi cap mags, etc etc. The only thing missing from their list is a total ban on ownership of self-defense firearms. Perhaps they are waiting for David Hogg to give them some guidance on that.
Other companies like Kelloggs which have gone this route felt the sting of customer boycotts. This probably will not affect Dick's too much, since no one shops there anyway. Anyway, you should add them to the places, eg Walmart, that you will never buy ammo from. If they think the guns should be banned, why would they sell the ammo? In Walmart's case, it is because they sell a lot of it. Virtue has a price tag you know.
I have to buy a new golf club. I will now buy it at Dicks.
Dick's takes EBT cards for golf clubs?I have to buy a new golf club. I will now buy it at Dicks.
You do realize that Golf Galaxy and other major retail golf chains sell far better clubs at lower prices.
As a bonus... .these golf stores don't sell any guns whatsoever. Not even BB guns.
Overall, companies that are good corporate citizens will gain more customers then they lose, and noisy idiots like you are inconsequential to them. Longer term, younger generation Americans are going to shift your countries ideas in many ways and what the baby boomer generation thinks about it matters zero. You've already saddled them with a huge federal debt, huge student loans, and the elimination of the lifetime securities your generation had ( eg defined benefit pensions, quality jobs after graduating, career long job security ). It's only a matter of time before they tell you fuck off grandpa you've screwed the country up enough. You can bitch about it all you want but I forecast none of these assault weapons will be legal in 30 years.
No, we ended up where we are now because of the Constitution and (mostly) free markets.Yes, we ended up with out of control gun laws by a total manipulation of the people.
Actually, consumer goods companies have noted that boycotts are far more dangerous than so called "good will" gained customers. Said another way so Canadians can get it, the likelihood of someone suddenly deciding to shop at a place they've never frequented before is far, far lower than the odds someone who used to shop there will get pissed off about a position the company takes politically - regardless of what side of the aisle that position leans on.
It's just good business to say out of politics completely. But I don't expect someone with no business knowledge to get that concept.
I have no experience with larger chains... but what you wrote makes a lot more sense than what nine-ender stated.
I know as a small business owner that almost every business owner is taught that acquiring new customers is much more expensive than getting repeat business from existing customers. For instance Realtors and lawyers are taught to stay in touch with previous clients even though they may not do business again for years.
