I'm having some trouble understanding how to calculate the +DI and -DI values from the Directional Movement Index indicator. The explanation below explains things quite well except when it gets to the PlusDMsum = previous PlusDMsum ..... etc. What do I use to calculate the first PlusDMsum?? Or can someone provide a better explanation of how to calculate this indicator properly? Thanks.
