In the European Union, 63% have put a ban on mailing in ballots except for citizens living overseas. Another 22% have imposed a ban even for those overseas. You should look at the list of countries in Europe that allows mail-in ballots because of the exception...its a Pandemic.

France as an example that will allow such for disable, sick and any reason associated with the Coronavirus Pandemic.

I'm allowed to vote in France elections (my birth place) and have been voting there since my 20's. I typically fly back to vote in the elections.

If there's still a Pandemic in 2022, I will be allowed to cast an absentee ballot for the elections in France from here in Québec, Canada just as I was allowed to cast an absentee ballot to United States during the 2020 elections because I'm also a citizen of the United States...register to vote their too.

I know mail-in ballots was banned in France when I was a kid (our family flew back to France to cast our vote...mom very political person) because of one town that had poor security or something like that.

• Mail-in ballots magically stolen or purchased...essentially it pssst off a lot of people that sent in their ballot and their vote didn't get counted.

A screw up in one town doomed it for the entire country but at least they had common sense to allow such during this Pandemic for the municipal elections in France and if the Pandemic is still here in 2022...they've already stated they will allow mail-in ballots for the general elections...

Macron will get re-elected. He's got my vote and I'll been sending in an absentee ballot. Will cross my fingers that it doesn't get stolen.

Simply, tactical error by Trump when he told / encourage his supporters to vote in person and not via mail-in ballot...giving the illusion they were winning on the day of the election in some states.
