Despite threat of boycott, attendance increases at Sunday NFL games

The likelihood the Trump led boycott will impact the NFL next year. This year, tickets are already sold.
This isn't about the flag. It's about people who are wiling to do whatever Trump asks them to do, blindly. Anyone whose boycotting the NFL this year, and didn't boycott the NFL last year has shown themselves as such. Anyone who didn't give up their season tickets at the beginning of this season (not after week three) has shown that they actually didn't care about the kneeling until Trump told them to care.
And likely they are just pawns in Trump's personal vendetta because he couldn't buy the Buffalo Bills.

Hopefully wrestling, NASCAR, and baseball follow suit.
Why? Are the players in any of those sports not standing for the national anthem?
Not standing for the national anthem is the source of the NFL's problems.
Americans want a gladiator sport. If not football, then it will be something similar.
The NFL holds too much money to simply fold, it may evolve. The only reason for the NFL to disappear is if they piss off enough of their audience that people stop tuning in. The current 5% to 10% drop in viewership is just a blip in the long term picture, but should serve as a warning the NFL needs to reform itself and stay out of social/political issues. The fans are tuning in to watch a violent entertaining sport and get away from the everyday reality in the news -- not to watch yet another round of social/political commentary.
Of course the NFL will survive unless congress legislates away the hitting.
I believe they have not only done short term damage... but medium term as well. They are going to have to be seen as "us" and our team again.
Until the NFL promotes diversity in their players... a good portion of the country is no longer going to feel the need to tune it. These players proved to be so out of touch they have become uninteresting. like many hollywood performers.
Its not something you can really view logically. it just is. They are not our cities team... its like watching european soccer here in the states. the passion of them being our team is gone.
