I prefer IPS panels.
FWIW... best prices on monitors with IPS...
20", UXGA, 1600X1200 = HP LP2065
24", UXGA, 1920X1200 = HP LP2475W
Samsung, and others, use S-PVA panels in their LCD TVs. S-PVA is also good for a monitor.
