The program takes all costs into account, and the lot size is a mere 0.01.Watching this second video I see that your system takes almost 300 trades to go from 10 k USD start value to about 10,240 USD end value. For a profit of 240 USD. Have you taken trade commissions into account? If not, then I fear that these will eat all (and more) of the profit.
Trade commissions are only like 1 to 3 pennies here and there...Watching this second video I see that your system takes almost 300 trades to go from 10 k USD start value to about 10,240 USD end value. It's one of the reasons I now prefer trading foreign currency pairs over trading equities, which cost me an arm and a leg every time I wanted to trade a stock.I'm not familiar with trading forex. If you say that trade commissions of "a few pennies here and there" is accurate than that is fine with me.
And the other version you need to follow up on was Version #9... just so you don't forget.NOTE TO SELF –
This is version 12. It is the version that seems to have evidenced the most consistent performance:
Maybe, but an hour or two earlier it WAS letting me test using five- and even one-minute charts (if I remember correctly).I have used MT4 in the past with extensive testing with experts, this problem with the 4 hour chart may be because you do not have enough lower time frame data within the sample period you are choosing.
What's your Sample period though? In your video you posted, it looks like you are starting back in 2016, most brokers do not hold enough high-resolution data for you to poll 3 years of 1 minute or 5-minute data but maybe you can get a year's worth.Maybe, but an hour or two earlier it WAS letting me test using five- and even one-minute charts (if I remember correctly).

However, I am sure you have probably looked into that. Otherwise, the other culprit is just dirty Data...
You can try using a higher timeframe to filter chop, so you would have to code the higher timeframe as a filter for the lower time frame you are trading on. Chop as everyone knows is extremely difficult to get around. The ADX indicator is also a good chop filter, it wont catch them all but it may lessen the number of trades taking place in chop. I used it for a long time but I got rid of all indicators.
My sample was only a month, and it was working for a while. I had to switch to the longer time frame when testing on four-hour and especially daily charts to have enough data to evaluate. What's your Sample period though?
