A new poll released on Tuesday showed that, among Republicans, Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis has taken an enormous lead over former President Donald Trump.

The USA Today-Suffolk University poll showed DeSantis leading Trump by a whopping 23 points, as 56% of respondents preferred DeSantis as the 2024 GOP presidential nominee while only 33% preferred Trump. The poll found 65% of Republican voters want DeSantis to mount a campaign for the presidency in 2024.

The poll also found that among all voters, in a head-to-head matchup with President Biden, DeSantis came out ahead by four points, 47% to 43%, but Biden led Trump by seven points, 47%-40%.

I don't like his theatrics. I don't think DeSantis is actually this anti-LGBT. I think he's playing the part for the base. But then he's extremely dishonest (like Trump). Or he does believe this ultra right wing tripe and then he's a despicable person.

There's a good chance Trump would pick him apart on a debate stage, because Trump isn't afraid to say anything. That said, Biden is a very vulnerable incumbent. He's 82 and has lost some marbles. The top 3 replacements being touted: Harris, Buttigieg, and Newsom are pretty weak candidates as well.
