DeSantis for the win

DeSantis's Department of Public Health is urging those with symptoms not to be tested. Because nothing holds the case count down better in Florida like not testing the sick. How will they ever know if they need "early treatment".

Let me just say --- urging those who have symptoms not to get tested is just depraved.

Florida Health Department Updates COVID-19 Testing Guidance To Reduce Demand

"People with symptoms who are not in the high-risk groups should get tested and seek medical attention only if necessary."

GWB_NPC, could you help this individual? Surely you must have contacts...DeSantis must be hoarding all the MAB in NC.

Poor old "South Florida Trophy Wife" you would think @Tsing Tao would be helping her out by forwarding the information below about how to get monoclonal antibody treatment in North Carolina so she can help her "dear friend". As per the Tweet -- going to a "telehealth" MD probably referred to you by "America's Frontline Doctors" who are trying to sell you Ivermectin is not going to get you in the queue for monoclonal antibody treatment in North Carolina. Her "dear friend" needs to follow the easily available instructions on how to get treatment in NC.

We will probably find out that the reality is that her "her friend's husband" did not medical qualify or was already too late since having symptoms to get monoclonal antibody treatment. But not to worry, she can drive her husband to Florida where anyone can walk in the door and get monoclonal antibody treatment with Regeneron -- even if it is completely ineffective against Omicron, hopefully it will make them feel more content getting a placebo that serves no useful medical purpose.

We should all note that other states have stopped using the two monoclonal antibody treatments which are useless against Omicron --- but not Florida.

Unlike Regeneron Ron we did not open walk-in monoclonal antibody treatment centers all over the state. Many of these centers in Florida are in inappropriate locations such as libraries and schools which were never designed to be medical facilities with the proper level of safety & cleanliness for intravenous types of treatments. Coupled with the the reality that monoclonal antibody treatments are only appropriate for some patients, not for every yahoo who walks in the door -- in fact this treatment may cause medical complications (e.g. severe allergic reactions) in some who it is not appropriate for. But... hey ... if your Regeneron Ron killing or hurting a bunch more of his constituents to make his hedge fund buddies rich then obviously it is not really an ethical concern. Whatever -- I guess pushing expensive treatments is much better for him than pushing proper prevention via low cost vaccination.

In North Carolina we require a proper medical referral for monoclonal antibody treatment -- either it must come from your primary physician or a hospital that admitted you. After a proper referral you will be prioritized and queued for monoclonal antibody treatment which is done at a proper medical facility (typically a hospital or urgent care clinic) which is designed to provide these types of treatments. We also have a state phone number to contact for monoclonal antibody treatment information which is broadcast regularly (1-877-332-6585) to assist people who do not have a health care provider or doctor.

At some point you have to ask if DeSantis is completely ignorant or just pandering to the Trumpers.
"Why didn't people get tested for Covid before the pandemic showed up?"

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis asked if people ever sought testing to see if they were sick before the coronavirus pandemic: 'Think about it'

  • Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis this week asked if people ever got tested for illness prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • His comments sparked confusion online, with many pointing out common preventative screenings for diseases like cancer.
  • DeSantis recently faced criticism for allowing around one million COVID-19 tests to expire in a warehouse.
