The excuse of "cancer treatment' falls short -- based on the couple's recent activity. Ron seems to be doing living it up and doing everything except addressing the current Covid surge in Florida.

Yep... DeSantis was missing in action for two weeks. First... his spokeswoman tried to claim he was on vacation. Then she laughably tried to claim he was attending to the state's business. Finally they pull the "cancer treatment" card out of their rear. Completely laughable.

First let's mention that only one of the three monoclonal antibody treatments -- Sotrovimab -- is effective against Omicron. Sotrovimab is in short supply.

Regeneron and Eli Lilly are ineffective against Omicron.
Currently treatment centers need to test for the type of variant before offering monoclonal antibody treatment curently. Florida's clinics (setup by DeSantis) refuse to test for the type of variant. So the clinics can only assume that every Covid case is Omicron and Sotrovimab must be used. Of course, Sotrovimab is in short supply nationally.
Sadly the clinics setup by DeSantis could treat people with Delta -- if they would just allow variant testing to occur. There is plenty of Regeneron and Eli Lilly supply available which can treat Delta.
However -- DeSantis isn't making any of these important nuances known -- he is just charging ahead attacking the Biden administration while ignoring the fiasco caused by his own policies which refuse to test for variant type (which of course is also fully funded with federal dollars but not being done in Florida).
The hospital systems (as opposed to clinics) in Florida have over 12,000 monoclonal antibody treatments currently in stock. Nearly all are Regeneron and Eli Lilly.

The call from Florida’s top elected official comes as COVID-19 cases climb to record heights. It also comes amid renewed tension between state and federal officials over the monoclonal treatments, which are given to vulnerable patients after exposure to COVID-19. “We have the ability, and we will, immediately turn on additional sites as soon as the federal government gives us the supply,” DeSantis said at a news conference at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.
The governor said his administration would set up additional state-run monoclonal antibody sites in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, the three counties with the highest number of new COVID cases in the state, and a site in central Florida if the state gets enough doses from the federal government.
Federal data shows that the state’s hospitals have more than 12,000 doses of Regeneron and Eli Lilly’s monoclonal antibody treatments on hand.
