So let me get this right -- you want to see the hospitals overwhelmed with unvaccinated COVID cases, all other healthcare shut-down, and families placing the bodies of the dead out in the street for collection. Because this is what you are proposing with the "let the virus burn through" nonsense -- ignoring the reality that a high infection rate among the severely-ill unvaccinated allows new more deadly & infectious variants to be generated.
Everyone knows how the current situation is going to end in Florida as the state hits new records in hospitalizations and ICUs are being overwhelmed. At this point it is possible to statistically calculate the number of upcoming deaths based on the current hospitalizations -- and the picture is looking grim in Florida.
While the treatment of COVID patients has improved in hospitals with new therapies, drugs, and methods -- the percentage of those dying in hospitals is still above 6% -- and now rising in July. For those intubated the death rate rises to 50% which is better than the earlier 80%
Much of the recent death rate reduction in 2021 is due to unvaccinated COVID patients being younger and healthier generally. You can basically calculate the upcoming COVID deaths hospitals will have by performing a look up based on the age, gender, and comorbidities of the current patients.
The only thing that will reduce the upcoming misery in Florida is the state-wide imposition of proper public health measures to address the misery and death being caused by COVID. Unless Florida masks-up, restricts indoor gatherings, promotes vaccination, and takes other measures --- the infection through the unvaccinated community will continue unabated over the upcoming months.
