Going to look at Infection Rates of various states. Florida was 1.04 yesterday, 1.07 last week and 1.03 today. Obviously on the right path.
Still, any number above 1 means the virus is still spreading. This isn't rocket science. Spreading comes from contact and the more an economy is functioning as it is supposed to be, the more the virus is going to spread. Its not because of some voodoo by the governor, its not because of some wizardry by Trump (or lack of). Its just the law of the universe when it comes to viruses. Case in point, lets look at some of the northern states who are trying to reopen (and combating DeSantis and all his evil ways)...

DeSantis is 41. Youngest governor ever to be elected if I'm not mistaken. We had a choice between DeSantis and Gillum. Look what happened to the other guy. Another choice of no choices.
My whole point in this thread when it comes to DeSantis is that Florida is a shit show - always has been - on the data front. This isn't made worse or better with one man. Remember the 2000 election? We still don't know if Gore or Bush won!
So the guy talks stupid shit on TV. The media was unfair to him early on and he got pissy about it. I would to. So would you.
What IS important is figuring out what is truth and what is propaganda in an age where even a virus can get political. I want to go about my life. I want my kid going to school. I want to make money, go to the beach, vacation. You? Lets figure out the right way to get there, even if our leaders can't find their ass from a hole in the ground.

How is Florida determining the effective R infection rate when they are doing NEAR ZERO CONTACT TRACING?
By the way R0 (the infection rate at time 0 with no mitigation) is not the same thing as R (the infection rate at a later time with mitigation).
If the best thing "fans" of Florida can point to is the unproven predicted infection rate as a sign that things are going well in their state ---- then things are not going well.
States such as Massachusetts and Connecticut are doing much more full Contact Tracing -- this is probably why their R number is higher. Florida's R number is merely lower since they are attempted to predict it with incomplete data. This is not a good sign for Florida but yet another indication of complete failure to properly address COVID.
Florida's shiat show in addressing COVID is directly correlated with DeSantis' actions. Trying to blame it on data (which he did his best to hide and distort) is absurd.
