DeSantis is the root of the problem. Until the DeSantis problem is addressed this easily preventable situation is going to continue to go downhill.
After seeing what occurred in New York, DeSantis had weeks to prepare in Florida. Scientists warning DeSantis this was coming for Florida next. Now a state where over 20% of the people are 65 and older is woefully unprepared to address the COVID-19 situation. Florida has effectively no contact tracing, limited testing, less than transparent data, and medical systems with no state support.
Nobody can understand why you continue to vigorously defend a governor who has done such a poor job - ignoring the reality, disputing obvious facts, and now stating "he has nothing to do with it". The COVID response from DeSantis has a distinct resemblance to Trump.
The tests per million matter --- not the total tests. Florida is well behind in COVID testing.
Sure, so if we impeached DeSantis and jailed him tomorrow, the case count would immediately improve and people would stop dying.

Some states have reopened too quickly, allowing the coronavirus pandemic to come roaring back, Dr. Anthony Fauci said Thursday.
"There are some times when despite the guidelines and the recommendations to open up carefully and prudently, some states skipped over those and just opened up too quickly," Fauci said.
Fauci said on Podcast-19, FiveThirtyEight's weekly podcast on Covid-19, that he thought in some respects Florida and Arizona's reopening plans have contributed to the uptick in cases in those states.
"Certainly Florida I know, you know, I think jumped over a couple of checkpoints," Fauci said.

Only 51%. So more than half approve. But the article is designed to make you think "only" this many think he is doing a good job.
