But since we are talking about Texas we can understand one thing. The majority of cases are coming in Democrat strongholds and near the border. One would expect a rise for a bit as Texas had the first push of case a little later than Florida. It will subside soon. This is what's needed---to have cases run their course. It's sad but true and is the reality. 98 yesterday is not a big number compared to other places and in the case of Texas, there are 407 hospitals. Texas is in good shape. Right now, the number of deaths per 100k population is 8. (It's 167 per 100k in NY).--I won't mention Texas again in the Florida thread.

Not everything is political, it's just a disease, Blue and Red are both getting it and both dying. I can tell you the reason TX is so bad is because no one was wearing masks, maybe 10% in the area where I live, and the not wearing masks is absolutely political when it shouldn't be. There are more now, but still probably only 50%. I am very high risk due to spleen issues so it pisses me off. 98 is not a huge number but the trend is up in general and today there was a 20 YO and 40 YO that died without underlying conditions. No idea where it will go from here, but it's certainly not over.
It's political to Leftists. We Conservatives can see how the Leftists are politicizing it. Not wearing masks causing a spike----I very much doubt that. People touching objects, including their mask and then touching their face? I would believe that.

It's absolutely why, you will excuse me if I believe the CDC, most doctors, Mike Pence and common sense over a random dude on the internet who claims it's over when we see new highs every day. Even though masks aren't perfect, even you can't believe that at a minimum less mucus etc gets distributed to surfaces/air when you cough or sneeze when you have a mask on.
What I am doing is just not touching my face without washing my hands. It is my belief that that is the mode of transmission 99.9 percent of the time.

At least 56 Florida hospitals in 25 different counties have hit 100% ICU capacity, according to overall hospital data released by the state. Another 35 only have 10% or less capacity remaining. In all, the state has just 962 out of a total of 5,023 ICU beds available as infections continue to rise. One expert said contact tracing has become impossible, because here are so many infections now in South Florida.
The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) released data on overall hospitalizations in the state, but not data related specifically to coronavirus hospitalizations as promised by DeSantis.
DeSantis, a Republican, defended the refusal to release the data as he was grilled by reporters during a Tuesday news conference.
“All the data that goes into this is all available,” DeSantis claimed.
“I have the spreadsheet from that data, governor,” a reporter shot back. “It is not available.”
“Obviously, not everything is presented in this report but just an unbelievable amount of data is available,” the governor insisted, refusing to respond to follow-up questions.
He claimed that the state had already released plenty of data even as Florida remains an outlier in refusing to release data on coronavirus hospitalizations.
“They have so much raw data on there,” he said. “It’s really incredible . . . People do the charts, and the graphs and everything. That’s all available for folks, and they are able to do it.”
State Sen. José Javier Rodríguez, a Democrat, alleged that the data was not released, because it may not match the data already reported by the state.
The data reported by Florida is unreliable and raises many questions, argued Rebekah Jones, who built Florida’s coronavirus data dashboard before she alleges being fired for refusing to manipulate data. DeSantis has denied her accusations.
That spike is certainly concerning. One would question it just from the logical aspect of how deaths come in. Is it possible that suddenly on one day people all died from Covid? I guess so. Seems more like a catch up statistical anomaly. I guess we see what tomorrow and the next day looks like to see for sure.
Also, have a watch. This is just two minutes long, but does not address deaths (unless deaths from incorrectly diagnosed people are being counted as Covid)

Interresting, while concerning it's not really surprising, Collin county does many things a little wonky, it's basically Plano and Mckinney. They only account for around 700 cases. I don't doubt the numbers are off some in certain places, the trends are still concerning. I suspect and hope though you are right and a lot of the deaths are from the 4th holiday, we will see over the next couple of days.
