It is exactly the difference between a mandate vs, - I think you should do it if you want to, I will recommend. That is exactly what has been studied. Conclusion is that mandates work. Desantis refused. You as a fanboi of DeSantis go with him when he says it doesn't work. Scientists who studied it says it does (no I am not sending you a link on that, google it)

Ok, so you've gone from "DeSantis is against mask usage" to "a mandate is better than supporting mandates from the local level." Just clarifying for the sake of honesty here.

Whoa, did DeSantis go against any of these?

If a person gets pulled over and a child is not in a booster seat, they are ticketed. The police are set up to manage this process at traffic stops. Many times people can get away with this if they aren't stopped. The police are not set up to do checkpoints on the highways to monitor booster seat usage - nor should they be. Folks are supposed to follow the law.

People who are underage cannot purchase alcohol because the person selling the alcohol checks their ID. The system is set up for this. However, underage people still get alcohol through a number of clever "work arounds". The cops can't stop it and aren't set up to remove it.

People running a red light are sometimes caught by police, and sometimes they get away with it. Not all people who run red lights get caught. In fact, most of the time they can get away with it. Cameras can help this.

People not wearing a mask cannot be policed effectively because police are not set up to monitor this. You'd need one hell of a big brother system to check this out. But right now, local merchants (outside of eateries and bars where wearing a mask would make it difficult to eat and drink - duh) are requiring masks in their establishments.

DeSantis supports all of these regulations and is on record saying so, in regards to mask. I assume he supports the rule of law on the others.

You just hate DeSantis because he sided with Trump and you hate Trump so everyone not against Trump should be hanged. Because you're obsessed.

Inforwars... that is a right wing site? I see people linking to it but I've never visited.

The shutdown in Florida prevented the medical system there from being overwhelmed. The decision was made to reopen after it was clear that the curve had been flattened. I think all the reopening means is to acknowledge that the virus is still present but not at levels that could fill the hospitals.

I don't think a single rational person believed that reopening would not result in more cases and perhaps some additional deaths. It is a trade-off between economic conflagration and some reasonable regard for safety and distancing.

Are these people actually expecting to shutdown the country until there are zero cases? There would not be anything left to reopen. If the cure is worse than the disease then maybe Do No Harm is a better guideline.

No, this is purely political. Liberals despise Governor DeSantis for snatching the win from their liberal candidate who was subsequently found intoxicated beyond function in a hotel room with meth and a gay male prostitute. The are just using anything they can as a blunt object.
