DeSantis for the win

I don't disagree with any of that. But it still doesn't mean the CEO should have opened his mouth and waded into a politically charged arena with a direct challenge to the governor - one who has his eyes on higher office. And as a shareholder in any company, I don't want the CEO doing stupid crap like that. I want him/her running the company I own shares in.

As for using power for political reasons, please. I could name half a dozen examples off the top of my head where members of both parties have done something like that. Its just the way politics goes, unfortunately.

Leadership means not stepping on the bug and opening the window to let the fly get away rather than swatting it. All you’re saying is DeSantis is too thin skinned to make reasonable decisions.

No, that's all you're saying. I don't feel that way at all.

What I'm saying is that politicians all over and on both sides have, throughout time, used the power of their office to force private citizens and companies to do their bidding, applying pressure in various ways that you might agree with or not agree with depending on your political leaning.

I'm also saying that, as a CEO of Disney, Chapek should have known better.

Disney pretty much built the Orlando area. Many, many companies all across this country still have these types of legacy privileges from many decades ago. The issue isn’t these self governance rules it’s about using political power for personal reasons. Going after Disney is not in the state of Florida’s interests at all. You do enough of this stuff and it can become a real drag.

The corporate State considers that private enterprise
in the sphere of production is the most effective and usefu [sic] [typo-should be: useful] instrument in the interest of the nation. In view of the fact that private organisation of production is a function of national concern, the organiser of the enterprise is responsible to the State for the direction given to production.

State intervention in economic production arises
only when private initiative is lacking or insufficient, or when the political interests of the State are involved. This intervention may take the form of control, assistance or direct management. (pp. 135-136)

Obama's Justice Department must have read that. One of many examples.

Right. The fly should have known better too…

I like snark. :)

But it doesn't change anything I mentioned. Chapek (not Iger, I wasn't thinking) shouldn't have gotten involved. He did so because the left pressured him to do so.
