DeSantis for the win

Wow, Florida Covid numbers ( infections and deaths ) were huge the last couple of days. Seems some of the deniers on here are totally out of touch with the current reality in Florida. Of course, if the numbers were 10 times worse, they'd still be posting the same shit on here regardless the actual data doesn't phase them.

'Unfortunate': Mayor Demings reacts to comments made by Gov. DeSantis on COVID-19, hospitalizations

On Wednesday, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings reacted to Gov. Ron DeSantis's comments about COVID-19 hospitalizations and what the governor said was the media creating "hysteria."

Demings called the comments, "unfortunate," saying there are significant COVID issues, and added that the governor needs to be better informed.

"It's kind of unfortunate, that the governor has taken the position that he has regarding the hospitals. What I can tell you here in this community, our hospitals obviously, when they moved to the highest status and having to suspend any type of elective or non-emergency surgeries, that's significant," Demings said.

WESH 2's Paul Rivera said to Demings, "Is the message hysteria? Should he come out to the hospitals and see what's happening?"

"The governor really needs to get himself better informed about what is really happening across the state," Demings said.

There has been a significant rise in COVID-19 cases in the county.

Last week, there were more than 7,500, which is the highest since January of this year.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has slipped behind a Democratic gubernatorial rival in a new poll as he faces scrutiny over his handling of the pandemic amid a surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the Sunshine State.

The survey, conducted by Florida-based firm St. Pete Polls, found that 45 percent of voters said they would vote for Democratic Rep. Charlie Crist (Fla.), who previously served as governor from 2007 to 2011, while 44 percent said they would back DeSantis.

Bow Down! You Do Not Belong Here!

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) fired back at Joe Biden telling him to “stay out of the way” from his lockdown plans, pointing out hundreds of thousands of potentially COVID-infected illegal aliens are streaming into the country due to Biden’s open border policy.

During a press conference Wednesday in Panama City, DeSantis warned Biden that he has no businesses lecturing about COVID when he opened up the southern border to allow hundreds of thousands of COVID-positive illegal immigrants into America.

“Joe Biden is suggesting if you don’t do lock down policies, you should quote, ‘get out of the way’…if you’re coming after the rights of parents in Florida, I’m standing in your way,” DeSantis said before receiving applause from residents and local leaders.

“If you’re trying to lock people down, I am standing in your way and I’m standing for the people of Florida.”

“He’s imported more virus from around the world by having a wide open southern border,” DeSantis continued. “You have hundreds of thousands of people pouring across – and it’s not just from Mexico – you have over 100 different countries where people are pouring through. So, he’s not shutting down the virus, he’s helping to facilitate it in our country.”
