DeSantis for the win

I agree,
but by the same argument...

It's very wrong for govt to be forcing the closure of business and harming people's health without the data showing their actions save overall harm. (once the hospitals have capacity.)

That shutdown was so damaging in so many areas and yet... when
we came out of shutdown the virus came back.

So what good did it do after the first 3 weeks? Why were the low risk group locked down?

In fact, this would be the time of the year to lockdown... not when we were locked down.

No data... no govt action.

Let's take a look at what this "DeSantis for the win" thread is all about... to remind you of the proper context.

Is it acceptable for a government administration to hide, manipulate and be less than transparent with public health data in the midst of a global pandemic in order to drive a political agenda of an elected executive official. Either you believe:

A) The very foundational basis of public trust is built on transparent health data -- and hiding, manipulating or being less than transparent with data is fundamentally unacceptable.
-- or --
B) It is perfectly acceptable for a governor's administration to be less than transparent with data to drive his political agenda.

I obviously believe in A) while you believe in B)

The way for us to have this strain go away is herd immunity in my view. We may get through this and not ever need a vaccine---we'll see. I believe it's a good thing that cases are going up a bit as mortality rates drop. We are likely closer to herd immunity that anyone thinks. I would not be surprised to hear that 250 million Americans have already caught this, or had T cell immunity before it ever showed up.

Apparently Florida has a lot of residents like Tsing Tao that don't care, which is their collective right. However, I look at the idiot Buy1Sell2 using Florida as his own personal playground without precautions ( with Tsing Tao liking it ) and it's not hard to figure out where this may go if a vaccine doesn't arrive far quicker then expected. Very likely we'll see some negative outcomes in Florida right about the time other areas flatten the second wave. Maybe they'll defy the odds get lucky, or maybe the delayed reporting will create the illusion of no second wave in action. My conclusion is they made their choices, if it gets bad it is what it is.

Just curious, but...what is it I don't care about?

No, I don't believe there is any deception and manipulation. No more so than anywhere else. There's a lot of incompetence, that's for sure. That's what I've been saying all along. But fraud? No.

But there is a narrative to attack DeSantis because he sided with Trump, so there you have it.

Again, the only thing that matters is how many people die. Case count is a distant second, but only because the amount of cases has a direct correlation to death.

The media in Florida has documented in detail the deliberate actions of the DeSantis administration to hide COVID information, deceive people, and be less than transparent at data.

At this point anyone believing the DeSantis administration has not manipulated the COVID data to drive his political agenda has their heads buried in the ground like an ostrich.

I've heard the allegations. Mostly from you, but also from your cut-and-paste routine. I've just not seen any proof. So yeah, I dismiss it as part of your crazed narrative.

It's not like you can be relied upon to provide unbiased coverage on the subject, or truthful representation. Or that you have shown yourself to be a beacon of impartiality, or have admitted when you were in error, or mistaken.

It's like asking me to trust someone who has already been determined to be a con artist. No thanks. All of the numbers in all of the states are getting worse - which is exactly what I said would happen. Open up, get the virus. Close down, don't. Its really that simple. But somehow Florida is the problem. LOL

Keep shouting at the rain. Maybe you and Nine Ender can form a support group - you seem to be the only ones interested in the whole DeSantis is lying narrative.

Sadly some people believe that the "only thing that matters is how many people die". Sadly they are willing to ignore the people who will endure lifetime health issues, the lengthy hospitalizations, all the ill people at home who can't go to work and burden on numerous families burying their loved ones --- as long as the economy is open and they can go to the bar -- then everything is OK by them.

So hell.... it is perfectly OK to under-report positive percentage, the number of cases, and the death count -- as long as it helps everything stay open -- then the governor should feed the residents all the falsehood and nonsense possible.

I've asked him that before and he went silent. He'll say something like "lets take a look at New Zealand" or something and push a total lockdown because that's what he believes.
