A billionaire who backed Ron DeSantis’ presidential campaign appears to be hedging his bets or changing his mind. Paul Tudor Jones II recently donated $150,000 to a PAC aligned with Chris Christie’s and maxed out with a $6,000 donation to Christie’s campaign committee, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Jones, a hedge fund titan who lives in Florida, put $1 million toward DeSantis’ gubernatorial re-election campaign and then kicked in $6,600 for his 2024 campaign committee in May—a month before the big Christie donations. He declined to comment to the Times.
Support for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R) presidential campaign has dropped significantly in the weeks since he attempted a reset of his team amid struggles in the race, according to a new poll.
A Yahoo News/YouGov poll released Tuesday, a day before the first GOP presidential debate, shows the Florida governor’s support dropped from 23 percent in July to 12 percent. This marks the first time in the poll’s tracking of the 2024 GOP race that a greater percentage of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters said they are not sure who they would support, at 14 percent, than said they would support DeSantis.
This is good
If you actually listen to DeSantis , he sounds the most normal of politicians
People will relate ti him because he has middle of the country values.
The media soundbites are much different
This debate will help a lot
Very few actually listen to him. Most take their talking points from the media. And DeSantis doesn't do well when he's out and about - has a hard time relating to folks despite his "average Joe" declaration.
No, folks are more interested in talking points and sound bytes and memes, which means Trump will be the elected challenger, and then we'll lose all over again and have the next four years of "elections were stolen" crap to listen to again while we regress even further.
We get the government we deserve, and there isn't a population of any time that deserves this government more.
