DeSantis 2024

Precisely.

What would the Founders think about the failure of the country to protect our borders after a hard-fought war to gain independence?

Our founding fathers were very open to immigration. In fact they believed the future of the United States depended on immigration to increase our population.

Yeh sure.

The Founders were big proponents of ILLEGAL immigration.

Uh huh.

So tell us what immigration laws were in place during the lifetimes of the founding fathers?

Oh... wait -- there were no laws making immigration to the U.S. illegal during their lifetime. ALL immigrants were welcome.

The first law limiting anyone coming to the country was enacted in 1875.

"Starting in 1875, a series of restrictions on immigration were enacted. They included bans on criminals, people with contagious diseases, polygamists, anarchists, beggars and importers of prostitutes. Other restrictions targeted the rising number of Asian immigrants, first limiting migration from China and later banning immigration from most Asian countries."

Here is a reference to help you learn some history of immigration to the U.S. and the associated laws & rules.

The Founders vested the power to legislate in that area to Congress.

And the Founders would have been supporters of validly enacted legislation being upheld and enforced. duh. In fact the Constitution requires the President to enforce all laws of the United States.

The fact that those laws may have been enacted after the adoption of the Constitution is neither here nor there. Most laws on anything were. But they would not be in favor of illegal immigration if Congress had adopted laws to the contrary, which it has.

You are welcome.

Maybe you need to go read some of the statements from founding fathers supporting robust immigration.

I am in favor of "robust immigration."

But what you and your ilk call "robust immigration" is actually an uncontrolled invasion.

Here is the reality facing the U.S. and many other western countries. In order to support our workforce needs and future social security payments -- we will need immigrants to come to the U.S. In about 50 years this situation will become the crisis. Likely to the point where we start paying immigrants to come to the U.S.

Of all the pools of people who are possible immigrants, the Hispanic population in Mexico and Central America would be far more likely to successfully integrate into U.S. society than individuals from other parts of the world. Yes, it is true they will need to learn English to be truly successful -- but this is not an insurmountable concern. Especially when the second generation picks up English readily and excel in society - becoming professionals and leaders.

The U.S. needs to fix its immigration policy which is currently a mess. Numerous times in the past on ET I have outlined my key points on fixing illegal immigration while still keeping criminals and drugs out. Despite the Republicans abusive portrayal of those crossing our southern border, most of these people are good, hard-working individuals who simply want a better life.
