Fox Business Network’s
Maria Bartiromo, usually a staunch defender of President
Donald Trump, criticized him for his widely panned press conference with Russian President
Vladimir Putin.
Trump defended Russia for its attack on the US election in a presser with Putin on Monday, even calling into question the conclusions of the intelligence community that Russia was behind the attack.
“I don’t think there’s any question that the Russians tried to undermine the West,” Bartiromo conceded on Tuesday, “and meddled in our election.” She cited a report from GOP Rep.
Devin Nunes on Russia interference.
“So there’s no question about that but the president didn’t want to address it in front of Vladimir Putin, which is a head scratcher,” she added.
“These are not partisan findings, these are bipartisan findings,”
Dagen McDowell noted.
Wall Street Journal economics editor
Jon Hilsenrathpointed out that Trump “had spent the previous days sticking his finger in the eye of so many allies in Europe.”
“He also called our European allies foes, and when asked if Russia was a foe he said they were a competitor,” Hilsenrath said.
“Another question: who quits in this administration?” McDowell asked.
“There are questions that we could see resignations,” Bartiromo said. “It was probably the low point of the presidency so far.”
