Democrats Want to Go After Legacy Admissions

If we want college admissions in the U.S. to be a true meritocracy then the universities need to do away with both race-based admissions and legacy admissions.
However I doubt very much if major universities will eliminate legacy admissions. The endowments of many universities come from these alumni -- many times they are multi-generational alumni with vast fortunes. A number of these universities would no longer be operating if these previous donations from alumni were not given. Eliminating legacy admissions will ensure that future donations are cut off to these universities.

Will the Democrat elite political class allow themselves to be dictated to by the unkempt poor masses of Democrats? Remember the ones running these so called elite colleges are the most powerful and elite Democrats around. The poor Democrats are recipients of scholarships funded by the filthy rich Democrats seeking preferential treatment for their children to elite schools. So, if they cut the preferential treatment for the rich Democrats, will they continue giving monies to said schools for scholarships?
Absolutely should legacy admissions be removed, they should have never existed. Goes completely against the idea of a meritocratic society (which the US never was and never will be, unlike some other leading economies)
Majorioty or endowers to a university are not sending their kids there so harvard and others can find other sources from other alumni. Also admissions knows who legacy applicants are so if their total application fits the requirements pretty much they will still admit them most likely. The only objection would be if a 2.2 GPA and 28 ACT and little to no activities or additional portions of the application are there gets admitted as a legacy.
No man... the lawsuit had nothing to do with that one Asian kid.... THERE WAS NO PROOF.
Dude do me a favor ands top spitting out Fox news and go look at the facts... Harvard did not released other accpeted kids essays to the Supreme court.. The decided on the general principle...had nothing to do with that Asian kid...just needed a plaintiff to assert standing since the PAC is hte one who brought the case on his behald...

I spoke of the lawsuit. Not the supreme court decision. During discovery as part of the lawsuit Harvard was forced to reveal the admission scores of all students of that year. The lawyers of that Asian kid very much had access to that data.
I found the totals but I would be curious to know the racial or ethnic breakdown of Harvard students in the various specialties. This could be quite informative on whether Asian students are focusing on the big prestige streams or a more balanced spread.
