I wonder why it is that people don't seem to care when scientists tell them that the apocalypse is upon us?

Perhaps it's because people remember the Malthusian apocalypses, and the Eugenic apocalypses, and the Pesticide apocalypses, and the Overpopulation apocalypses, and the Global Cooling apocalypses, and the Acid Rain apocalypses, and the Heterosexual AIDS apocalypses.

Scientists have been shoveling bullshit for a couple of centuries now, and people are smart enough to know when government contractors (which is what scientists are) hype imminent catastrophes to gin up funding and draw attention to themselves.

The polar bear scam.

The dwindling of the polar bear population that was hyped by the global warming swindlers has unraveled.

When a polar bear scientist continually questioned the science group that provided the assessment that the global warming swindlers used, the scientist who is responsible for the group has finally fessed up that the assessment was just a "qualified guess used to satisfy public demand." There was no science behind it. And, they are backing off from the phony numbers.

Kiribati will be underwater.

I used to run a, uhm.. technical facility on Kiribati (Christmas Island) and it was a God-awful place inhabited primarily by folks only a generation or two removed from cannabalism. We built a medical clinic for them as they had not managed to bring *any* medical care to their island in their entire history. Upon arrival back at Kiribati from a trip to CONUS I saw them loading a stainless steel casket on the plane I was exiting that contained the body of the british doctor we left in charge of the clinic. He had died of *plague*.

The locals had no notion of sanitation and garbage literally fell from their hands to the ground wherever they may be. Little piles of beer cans all over an otherwise pristine tropical environment. At least half the population suffered from various maladies relating to consuming ethanol tainted with methanol during very crude distillations of fruit. Lots of blind folks on Kiribati. Occasionally you would see a body floating in the atoll.

So, idgaf what happens to that island. Zero contribution to human culture in any category and almost no reedeming features that any civilized person would recognize. Putting greats swaths of the world's population into difficulty over electrical power and transportation to save Kiribati makes little sense to me.

CO2 contributes 3.62 % to the total greenhouse effect from all causes. 3.23% of the total CO2 in the atmosphere is produced by humans. The CO2 produced by humans is 0.117% of the total greenhouse effect from all causes. Water vapor produces 95.0% of the total greenhouse effect from all causes.

The global warming advocates all ignore the 95.0% contribution of water vapor to the total greenhouse effect because considering water vapors contribution completely debunks the global warming advocates arguments. The global warming advocates make their calculation with the devious assumption that all air is dry and contains no water vapor. In reality, all atmospheric air contains water vapor. There is a lot of water vapor in the air of our earth.
