So you're saying I have to trust that the government will see to the well being of my child no matter what? If the HPV was on the mandatory list of vaccines and I refused it because my 4 year old didn't need it at that point, I'd be an anti-vaxxer.

Some countries are going to mandate the Covid vaccine (assuming one actually is created) from the moment it is released. Rushed, and then released. And you think this is a wise idea.

Vaccines have a place in society, for obvious reasons. But in your opinion, we have to trust the government to care for us and make sure that we are "taking our medicine". But its ok to distrust government on a broad range of other issues.

If you refuse mandatory vaccines that stop highly communicable deadly diseases then yes --- you are an anti-vaxer. In fact this is how anti-vaxers define themselves.

At this point we have all scene what happens in anti-vaxer communities -- go take a look at the wide-spread measles breakouts -- which are preventable.

Flu vaccines are not guaranteed effective because the strain changed regularly.

Also.adults that are around kids a lot are recommended to get a flu shot to protect kids.

But mandating a flu shot is going a little too far. Yeah kids get flu but it has not risen to a serious epidemic level that disrupts schools and communities. You are contagious is when you have symptoms and at that point you are sick and must stay home.

There is no need to mandate a flu shot..just government over stepping in a panic. Adults are the highest risk and that is for them to decide since flu shots are not even 100% effective, some who get the flu shot get actually sick and others who get the shot still get the flu.

Why are Massholes suddenly worried about making flu shots mandatory? This is not their purview and has no rational basis. If doctors and medical community do not mandate the shot why should a school board do it?

Doctors only push for the flu shot in at risk elderly people...if people followed the COVId protocols of washing hands, not touching their faces, covering mouths to.cough or sneeze etc.. flu.incidence would drop significantly.

Sorry but unlike measels and polio there is no medical backing or science to push a mandared flu vaccine. It is not an anti.vaxx position..it is just.common sense. Many people allergic to it, get sick from it, still get the flu with it etc..

Just dont be disgusting and you can prevent the spread...

One benefit from this Pandemic is the focus on personal hygiene. People never saw the flu as deadly, even though the flu puts hundreds of thousands in the hospital and kills somewhere between 20-60,000 (US) each year. People get sick and as long as they’re not puking their guts out, they’re working or out in public, they send their kids to school sick. All that has stopped thankfully.

We are not even at at a point where any COVID vaccine in the U.S. is approved - we don't have a summary yet of the testing that has been completed nor any assessment of the safety risks. Standard respiratory or cold viruses do not have long term breathing and respiratory effects that linger on for months. There are numerous articles about the long term COVID health effects with many personal example provided.

I'd be happy to read empirical studies you may (or may not) have. "Articles" are worthless. I doubt you'll find much on the long term studies on a virus that has been in circulation for less than a year.

And then there's Polio, which quite definitely can leave you paralyzed.

Comparing these two viruses is complete, abject stupidity. Expecting people to take a vaccine when they have almost zero risk on COVID is abject stupidity.
