This time I am more confident that confidence is justified. I believe racial minorities, Hispanics, the college educated, women, and everyone else you could plausibly include, like many in the anti-Romney-47% camp, will come out in droves to vote this time, to vote against Trump.
They came out in droves the last two election. Those groups are peaked. The only group left untapped, and there are tens of millions, are the uninspired, haven't voted ever or rarely vote type people. IMO most of those people are white, lean more conservative than not, and despise government. I've written it here many times. Anyone who can get these people off the couch, and it's a heavy lift, will win in a landslide. Keeping them engaged all the way until November will be dicey for republicans, even if Trump is the nominee. At this point I'd lay my money, no Trump = democratic president. Trump = total destruction of a Clinton candidate. A very tight, too close to call race if it's the Bernmiester. This time I am more confident that confidence is justified. In my experience, and the concept isn't new, fear of loss is the greater motivator than desire for gain. I suspect this group you describe will be more likely to vote to oppose Trump, who promises vague things to gain and frightening means. They came out in droves the last two election. I think Trump very much wants to be president, not so much to make America great again but to make Trump great again. My guess is it looks like the GOP establishment doesn't really want to win the game this time, therefore they know how to have Trump for the game right now.
And Trump actually also doesn't really want to win the game either, and consequently carry out (or enjoy) the president role, therefore he would have to find his own way sooner or later how to lose the game naturally and eventually!
Otherwise, it's also possible that one day he might say to himself, willingly or unwillingly: "You're fired!", then go back to NY just making many times of more money!
The issue of who would be the VP could become more important to the establishment, probably!
Just 2 cents! We will see!
