Demo IB API historical data

Hello all,

I've downloaded the API and the demo client from IB, logging in using the demo account and while I get Market Data Im unable to receive Historical Market Data with error 165. I've tried it a few products, stocks and future contracts but I get the same error. Is the historical data enabled for the demo account or is it something else?

Hi I would like to try your product for free and while doing that download stuff I would have to pay for everywhere else.

Actually, I had the same problem sometime ago.

I used:
- demo TWS + API
- demo java client

and I couldn't get any demo historical data.

Can someone please confirm that it's possible
and not disabled in the demo versions,
so I look elsewhere for solving the problem?

The demo accounts do not have access to historical data through the API. You have to use a live account, or a paper-trading account.

ya, quotes on the demo are completely unreliable; open an acct and make use of the papertrader facility.
