Understanding how markets work is one thing, making money is completely different. I would say that finding profitable trading system is a blend of trained eye (intuition?), talent, coding and math background and of course common sense. Often you need to spend many years before you get you get all of the necessary ingredients. From my experience I can that the demo is the best tool for beginners to train and understand how the forex market works without taking any real risks or money.
Live trading on the other hand has risks and real money involved in it, so traders need to gain proper experience in it before expecting consistent profits.
Agree, many traders underestimate influence of emotional pressure in trading. If you are unprepared you are guaranteed to have risk spiralling out of controlTrading a live account is going to be a completely different experience compared to trading a demo account. Though both trading platforms look and work exactly the same way, a demo account consists of virtual funds, with which traders have no emotional connection. Whereas, trading a live account involves real money, which traders can lose if they don’t implement the right trading strategies. If someone is trading a demo account for practicing strategies, then that’s fine, other than that, a demo account won’t be of any use.
