".. Sure, its nice and super fast, but also twice the amount as the system you quoted. And for trading; I'm thinking what will my system do that yours won't. Although it seems like a good deal, I think I over-spent on a rig that's over-kill.

If you want to unload it, contact "nitro".. he's into SUPERFAST!

Well, even through Dell Outlet Store, it's 100% returnable. But I just called and checked. My order is processing and scheduled to be shipped on Wednesday, April 30. I could have cancelled but I decided I'm going to just go ahead and take delivery. I can check it out for a couple weeks and make sure it's what I want. Even though I paid a little more for it than most T3400 systems in the outlet store; If I like it, I'll prolly keep it. And I was just thinking. So what if I did spend a few hundred extra. It's no big deal and I reckon it won't hurt that it's mega-fast. :D

Now, now... Let's not get testy. :)

Excuse me for being a little excited about getting my new system. I'm sure y'all know the feeling. In any event, I'll try to quit blabbing about my new Dell and sorry for hijacking your thread. :p

No worries. Just going for a laugh..:p

Mine is configured with an QX9650 3.00GHz Intel Processor (Core 2 Extreme Quad-core/1333MHz FSB/12MB L2 cache), 525W PSU, 80 GB SATA II Hard Drive, Dell 19 in 1 Media Card Reader, 2 GB DDR2 Non-ECC SDRAM 677MHz (2 DIMMs), 256MB PCIe x16 nVidia NVS 290, 1394 Controller Card and Windows XP Pro; all for: $1069

didn't really undestand all this fuzz about dell. if you buy same thing, using parts from newegg for example-it will cost you probably 300-500$ less.

Come on, Bob... the QX9650 is currently $1,039 at Newegg... How do you BIY and save $300-$500?

Hmmm... I'm sorta having second thoughts about the refurb Dell T3400 Precision Workstation I've ordered over the weekend. Why? Because it cost almost twice the amount of the machine you quoted above. But I did get some extra horsepower with the added cost.

But I digress, I wonder if I really need all that. Sure, its nice and super fast, but also twice the amount as the system you quoted. And for trading; I'm thinking what will my system do that yours won't. Although it seems like a good deal, I think I over-spent on a rig that's over-kill.

That's a great rig that you ordered.
TOTAL OVERKILL, but still an amazing price!

Compare that to this refurbished T3400 that comes with an E6850 Intel Duo-Core 3.00 processor with a 525 watt PSU and 2 gigs of ECC 667 SDRAM, and a 73 GB SAS Hard Drive at 15,000 RPM with the nVidia NVS 290 graphics card for $949.00

System ID: 0GX18R1A

P.S. Your QX9650 has 12 MB of L2 cache to my 6 MB of L2 cache on my 2.60 Duo-Core E8200 that I bought new back in early April.
:D

Again, your broadband connection, location of the trading server ( miles away ), and your router will most likely be where the real "bottleneck" potential lies when it comes to trading functionality - - - not the hardware!

That a pretty nice price, Gnome.
Getting the 20" LCD is what makes it value added!
But I'll see your Vostro-400 and raise you a refurbished Dell T3400 Precision Workstation with an E6550, 2.33 GHz Intel Processor, 1 Gig of 667 PC-5300 RAM, an 80 Gig HD, with a 256 mb PCI-Express nVidia NVS-290 graphics card, 16X DVD +/-RW and Windows XP Pro all for:
$539.00
