dell outlet win 7 question

You could use the FX580 elsewhere... or sell it on eBay or Craigslist... Then buy the passively cooled Nvidia Quadro NVS 295.. usually for $35-$50 on eBay. Used is OK.. they're quite reliable.
I just checked Dell Outlet.. there are 2, T3500s, with W3530 CPU, 4G RAM, W7 and NVS295 video card... for $779.
i grabbed the 809 unit...
looked at the 779s but they desktop config, 4dimms (4gb) and win7 32 vs the 809 with tower, 2dimms (4gb) and win 7 64
and diff vid cards
30$ more seemed fair enuf diff
would to have loved to have picked up something under 700 but like ya said they hard to find

now just need a couple extra monitors...have some old 1901fp ultrsharps but was thinkin of addin some widescreens...any thoughts? would prefer ips panel over a tn

Not a widescreen fan myself except for WUXGA.. 1920x1200. Dell has a few with IPS panels... and then there are the HP LP2065s... UXGA, 1600x1200 for about $350 each. Also, HP LP2475W.. 1920x1200 for about $550.
Windows 7 comes in 2 flavours:
1) OEM - you have to buy it with hardware (like a graphics card or a whole computer). The licence states OEM Windows 7 should be used only with the hardware it's been purchsed with. You get either 32- or 64-bit version, not both.
2) Retail - this one is more expensive, it comes in a nice box. The license allows you to remove it from one PC and install on another. "Retail" Windows 7 lets you install both 32- and 64-bit versions.
Also, there is this 24". Ad describes this as "S-IPS" panel, but I've read where it's really "e-IPS (H2-IPS)"...

Though the HP LP2475W is an EXCELLENT monitor... for the price differential, I'd definitely give this one a look.
Not a fabulous price like some Outlet deals, but still a decent price for what you're getting. The Precision line is excellent... as is support... separate and different from support on their budget models.... not "Asian call center".
