That's talking about 'peer review' mills without any credibility - peer review in reputed journals is still the gold standard otherwise anybody can claim anything and call it scientific.
Tell me about the publishing fees for these so-called "reputable" journals. Tell me about any paper they reject in the modern era.
Without an entry barrier, there will be too much junk. And nobody claimed peer reviewing is perfect, it's the only mechanism for quality control
