Having some understanding of geopolitical events impact price, but using PA to time entries. Also, many news events are already baked into the price so in theory you could go just with PA but in practice it's helpful to combine both for longer targeted profit targets.

I'm of the mind that in 2022 the only edge is experience in the Market combined with maybe above average intelligence. I've heard veteran traders tell stories of incidents in the past where there was some sort of technical edge discovered by a trader,some sort of arbitrage,time delay between ECNs,etc.but those "glitches" were quickly rectified by the Market and quickly ended.
Edge is the sum part of everything we bring to the table. About 80% of it psychological/behaviors - its easy to find setups that have worked well over time, it's far more difficult to execute long enough to make any real strides.
Trading well is like getting into shape, the easy part is knowing what to do. Yet so few ever get close to their goal- they fail to change their behaviors/mindset.
