Defense Budget

That makes sense, but the CIA has had some high tech stuff over the years as well, like their own version of the SR-71. Maybe they have to share, but I'm sure some of their leaders don't want to.

Who has the better technology? The Defense Department, the CIA or the FBI?

In the sense I think you mean probably the NSA and the NRO just for sheer wizardry.

But if you think about those ballistic missile submarines of ours, the boomers, that sit for months right on the doorstep of threat countries with unbelievable firepower at hand it is something to consider. They make fresh water and oxygen onboard. They can remain submerged for as long as you can feed the crew. The technology is amazing.

If someone was to abruptly attack us massively with nuclear weapons they could basically destroy the continental united states outright. But if they missed a single USN boomer.... Our subs are the most quiet on earth and cannot be consistently tracked. They can never know where they all are and it only takes one to close the deal. Its impressive to me and I'm a space guy lol.

The boomers have been around for a long time, too.

The secret technology is always way ahead of the commercial. They were landing on the moon in the 60s when TVs still had vacuum tubes and you had to roll the car windows down in the summer.

Where do you think they get the stuff from? Neither the CIA or the NSA are reknowned for their scientific breakthroughs. Just about every piece of TECHNOLOGY has its genesis in DARPA, including the SR71.

The CIA recruits the top people from the best schools. I have a hard time believing they don't have access to the best technology.

You never know with the misdirection. Maybe DARPA isn't really defense-managed.
