TMBR would basically always be at the same price as the specialist whenever the spread was positive (i.e. market not locked or crossed). But apparently too many traders were taking advantage of that, and now it's gone. For about a week TMBR has been a lot more careful. I'm not quite sure if all they changed in their algorithm is to ignore when the (NYSE) quote shows size 1, or if they are considering futures now as well, or if they have actual humans who know how to make markets now, but it looks like the good times are gone. Well, can't blame TMBR for not giving away money anymore, we will just have to be a little smarter so that we can survive in the cold hard "real" TMBR-less world.
