Deciding on a Backtesting and Trading Platform

Murray, i am still awaiting a reply as to my previous question. Where is the new update for tradersstudio? You first said summer, then September, now we are in mid october......is there any update?

First I want to thank all of you for the collaborating and for all your activity here, I am new in the forum (2.5 years active at forx-tsd)

I read a lot of post here in the forum and I have some Q :

My problem is :

Today I am developing algo using Tradestation & MT4 (MQL)

Since I am looking to upgrade my development environment I am looking for a good platform for this issue.

Things that I must have in the platform :

1.The ability to work with Real time Data.
2.The ability to use my Owen Data feed (since I am not working on a lot of different markets).
3.high performance regarding Back testing and using Tick Data.
4.The ability to program algo that is trading from the OrderBook.
5.A platform that can store a lot of Tick Data in flexible way (not so important as the others).
6.a good interface that can allow me as a developer to get info from the chats in visual mode.

the platform that i came into are :

OpenQuant
MultiChats
TradersStudio
Right Edge
Trading BLOX

anyone...? :-)

There's also Tradelink - which is free. I also get the feeling that to implement what you want you would need an open enough platform to be able to implement the functionalities that you need.

Some brief thoughts:

Trading Blox - Doesn't support intra-day timescales - nuff said.
MultiCharts - Really a Tradestation clone with some added features. I doubt that it's sophisticated enough for what I think you may be wanting to do.
Open Quant - To a degree supports your requirements but is closed (not open) and therefore not extensible. You do not have access to the underlying framework.
Right Edge - Worth investigating further but I suspect the Db implementation may not be fast enough and it may have the same restrictions as open quant.
Tradersstudio - The real-time implementation isn't available yet so it's impossible to say whether that will be suitable for you. While it's a solid product it's not as extensible as it could be. That said, they do support functional extensions via dll. So you could develop in .NET and wrap it for presentation to Tradesstudio. They have guides to help you with that.

So in short, depending upon how far reaching your needs are, nothing might cut it for you. If you have clear ideas and requirements have a look at Tradelink. At least there you will have source level access.

so what is a good platform? I dont mind to pay some extra just to get a good platform> >? does anyone know about professional mathlab framework.
