Deciding on a Backtesting and Trading Platform

Quote from Murray Ruggiero:

It is not ready. We know the product is very late and have just had a major increase in programming staff. This will allow us to catch up and get both a multi-core version and real time released before mid 2009.

Murray, seems to me that the new version still won't be ready for some time. What I wanted to ask is that when I purchased 2.5 back in July 2008, i purchased it with the understanding that the 3.0 upgrade due to be released in the fall of 2008 at the time would be a free upgrade to me since i was a relatively new buyer at the time. If I had to guess, your new version probably won't be released for several more months, meaning that i'm no longer really a "new" customer. My question to you Murray is, will the new version that is being beta tested now still be a free upgrade to me. I expect it to be free to me regardless of how long it takes you to get the new version out, however I would like your confirmation. Thanks.

Yes, all people who purchase TradersStudio after May 2008 will get a free upgrade to Professional. If you puchased from May 2007 to April 2008 , you will get a new version with some of the professional features missing unless you are on a membership program.

Also all membership programs have been extended until the new version is released.

I've looked at RINA before - looks pretty cool, but at $1k a month/$10k a year, it's just ridiculously expensive and you could duplicate the tools with any number of cheaper tools from Portfolio123.com to any of the trading platforms mentioned here.

Hello,
I have this 1-min data in the form of OHLCV columns in notepad for past 2y.

Any consensus on what is a good software where I can backtest this (not trade)? This is specifically for energy futures so a software that provides good analysis on this. Currently want to do a trial period.

thanks

Can someone give more information and insight on this.

Regarding Rina Systems and their comparison with TradersStudio, please have a look at the following links to understand better:

By the way the link is having an error, it is as follows:

Well, I've had a quick look and am struggling to see why you think it's relevant. Perhaps you should explain it's relevance, other than at face value, and then people may be able to comment.

So far, I have no comment because, I see no real relevance.

Thx
D
